Series

The theme of my series is the core values of life for me: faith, family, and friends (bottom to top).
In the first composition, the model is pondering her faith (cross shadow, sky background)
In the second, two sisters are sharing an embrace with obvious love between the two
and in the third, two friends are communicating with out even saying a word

Artist Statement

4) In this class I've been exposed to many styles of photography, all of which I have learned from. There are a few particular styles, however, that I have been particularly taken with and inspired to use on my own. I really love the depth and detail that macro pictures create. They also commonly create a distinct focal point. I also am really inspired by portraits, especially head shots.
1) I walked into this class having never used photoshop in my life and having minimal experience with fine art photography. Now, at the end of the term, I'm fairly proficient with photoshop and put a lot more thought into my compositions (not to mention know my camera a lot better).
2) I hope to continue improving my pictures. I now have the tools to capture the images around me in a much more advanced way than before, and hope to use these methods in my everyday photos.

Color

I used color to create different moods and effects in each photo. In the top photo, the colors are unnatural, loud, and almost overwhelming. The theme of the photo is similiar, having an unrealistic background, and surreal vibe.
In the second photo, the colors are eery, making the entire photo eery as well. The colors and in turn the composition are subdued, but not peaceful. Almost like the calm before the storm?
Finally, my last photo uses complementary colors in very vibrant tones as well as greatly contrasting hues of the same cool (as in skin tone) to further enhance the almost unsteadiness of the picture. There are many loud opposites being presented.

Goldsworthy Photos

The main aspects of Goldsworthy's photography that I tried to emulate were:
-the organic flow & curved pattern also found in nature and Goldsworthy's art
-the natural materials used to create scenes
-the use of natural lighting and a natural environment
